DEPARTMENT OF NEUROLOGY
HISTORY :-
Stanley Medical college is a 220 years old Institution serving needy people of North Chennai having great reputation among our people. We have been serving neurological services to our people since 1972.Our department was started by late Prof.E.Meenakshisundaram and has been adorned and developed by doyens of Neurology Prof.C.U.VelMurugendiran, Prof.M.Kannappan,Prof.A.Panneer,
Prof.M.Dhanraj,Prof.A.Murugesan, and Prof.S.Gobinathan.
Our Department has developed over last 46 years with more than 10,000 patients per month for outpatient care with subspecialty op for Headache ,Epilepsy ,Stroke and Movement disorders.
We give Inpatient care with 80 beds in our department and serve on call consultation for all departments in our Great Hospital (24x7)
We have Electrophysiology services with 24 hour Video EEG services. We have comprehensive Epilepsy care with full presurgical evaluation capacity and with our Neurosurgeons we have done more than 12 epilepsy surgeries successfully.
We have got the distinction of providing Thrombolytic therapy under CMCHIS scheme free of cost to our people.Botulinum Toxin Therapy is also given free of cost. We have treated many demyelinating diseases with intravenous Immunoglobulin and plasmapheresis free of cost under CMCHIS scheme.
We have been training DM neurology post graduates with our Alumni occupying high positions in Government and private institutions in and out of our country.
