DEPARTMENT OF RADIODIAGNOSIS

The first x-ray outfit was obtained in the year 1933.It was provided by a solitary technician and a portable X-ray machine . Then the department was headed by Dr. Sundaresan, who was succeeded by Dr. Thotadri in 1938. That year, the department of Radiology was expanded along with medical and surgical department. In April 1962, when the P.G. Diploma Course in Diagnostic Radiology was launched,the new Radiology block was inaugurated in the out patient department in room no 14 on 16th December 1966, by the then Chief minister M.Bakthavatchalam,.

Prof.C.Amarnath took over as Head of the department in May 2011, a highly dynamic and dedicated radiologist, who leaves no stone unturned in his efforts to develop the department. He has provided selfless contribution and tireless service for the innovation of the department. During his period DMRD and MDRD (Radiodiagnosis) got recognized and many newer equipments and courses were added to the department. The department is equipped with one 128 slice CT and two 64 slice CT machines. There is one 1.5T MRI machine and recently DSA Cath Lab Was inaugurated in our department.

Every Year Roentgen Day is celebrated by our department on 8^th of November which is the  International Day of Rdaiology with various academic events , science exhibition and Quiz competiotion.
The Stanley Radiology  Museum consists of collection of rare cases of around 5000 plus films. The radiology residents across various institutes of the country have been benefitted by learning from the museum.
