1. HISTORY

Stanley Medical College was established at 1938, after British Parliamentarian, Sir George Frederick Stanley. Physiology Department started its functioning at the same time.Teaching and Research are the two important activities of this department. Competency based medical education schedule has been framed and to be implemented to undergraduate students. Students Quiz programme is the favourite task of this department. Students of this department (both UG & PG) have won fabulous prizes in Intermedical Quiz Programmes. Every year an Intramural Quiz Competition is organized by this Department conducted by the second year students for the first year students. Research activities are carried out in a full fledged manner by the faculty and Postgraduates of our department. A number of research papers have been presented in various conferences. A number of papers have been published in National & International journals.

9. PRIZES AND AWARDS WON

  1. Our students won prizes in the National talent test conducted at SRMCon Hematology in 2016. Undergraduates bagged the 2nd and 3rd prizes and Postgraduate Dr.Indumathi won the 3rd prize.
  2. In the Annual state conference “ENVOCCON” held at Balaji medical college in 2016 the following faculty and postgraduates won prizes for paper presentation. Faculty paper presentation -1st prize –Dr.Lovie Beneta, Dr. Anbuselvi Mattuvarkuzhali 2nd prize –Dr.P. Niveditha Postgraduates paper presentation–1st prize - Dr. Indumathi , Dr.Anbarasi
  3. Our PGs Dr.Indumathi and Dr.Anto Nazarene won 2nd prize in state level quiz competition held at Chengalpet medical college on Endocrinology in 2017
  4. In 2018, in the state level UGquiz held at Saveetha medical college, Chennai on Renal physiology our undergraduates H.Gauri, M.Benita Sharon, Khyathi Sreenivas won 3rd prize.
  5. In 2018- “LEMECON” – a National conference on Learning and Memory was conducted at Karpaga Vinayaga Institute of medical sciences on 5th October.The following prizes were bagged by our Postgraduates for paper presentation 2nd Prize- Dr. Sathish kumar and 3rd prize – Dr.B.Dharani
  6. In QUIZENTERA 19, UG quiz cum CME at PSG Institute of medical sciences & research on 22.02.19 & 23.02.19 on the topic Digestive system our undergraduates R.Jayalakshmi, Karthama Ravi, S.Narayanan won 2nd Prize.
  7. In “La Cervea” – CME on Navigation and student seminar competition on Central nervous system on 27.04.19 at Velammal Medical college, Madurai our I M.B.B.S student Sriram Anand got the 1st prize for his presentation on “Phantom limb “
